The Spirit of Rowing Press Release
The Spirit of Rowing
Picture this. Sliding across the water in a sliver of motion, feeling your muscles, the cool breeze on your face. There is no better way to combine your love for the May River and exercise. Introduce yourself to the dolphins and a multitude of water birds while you burn off 400 calories in just 20 minutes. This is more than any other exercise could do for you. Low Impact workouts epitomize rowing. Lose those excess pounds in the beautiful outdoors instead of a smelly gym. In the late afternoon sun after your days work, listen to the oars dip into the water as you virtually glide along in your Heritage of Cambridge becoming one with nature. Both are considered the driest open water boats on the market. No need to worry about high gas prices or waiting for the boat mechanic to come out and fix those eternal problems on your outboard. With the Little River boats you can go when you are ready anytime.
Four years ago I was introduce to sliding seat rowing at the Savannah boat show. Sliding seat is the ultimate aerobic exercise since your legs, arms, and total body benefit. This is unlike kayaking where you work solely on your upper body. Unlike kayaking the Heritage and Cambridge boats are designed for rough water. Little River offers sliding seat boats in the 12 to 22 foot range. They literally cover the waterfront with quality rowing products. Little River offers design features that normally come as extras with other manufacturers. Standard on Little River boats is Carbon Fiber Construction allowing for lighter weight hulls and superior rigidity. One piece, non-skid, molded decks and interiors add beauty, strength and less maintenance. The boats are striking in their colors of white, red, and yellow. The boat design incorporates no bends because bends are weaker than welds and absorb energy meant to propel the shell forward. Unique fold-in riggers on the Heritage models provide easier docking and transporting. The Heritage 15 weighs just 96 lbs. The oarlocks “universal pitch” are considered the finest in the industry.
The Cambridge is 21 feet long and is built to handle rough water. The 46 lb. weigh makes it easy to trailer and move to the water. Plans are in the incubator stage to develop both a Heritage and Cambridge fleet along the May River and Inland lake waters. The product offered by Little River is state of the art in rowing. Base price for the Cambridge is $3295.00 and the Heritage 15 is $4295.00. additional costs vary depending on the buyer’s ultimate desires. At present there are 6 Heritage boats in the May River Bluffton area along with 3 of the Cambridge model.

Father taught us that opportunity and responsibility go hand in hand. I think we all act on that principle; on the basic human impulse that makes a man want to make the best of what’s in him and what’s been given him.
